The Middle of the World on 2 wheels
Middle of the World in MTB plus Otavalo
Cycle through unknown trails in the middle of the world that are full of history and beautiful landscapes of the Andes at the foothills of Cayambe volcano. With each pedal stroke we discover the secrets that this corner of Ecuador has kept for centuries.
We begin our adventure in Quito, from your hotel we drive to the community of Guachalá where the equinoctial line crosses. Take out your cell phone and check for yourself with the GPS that you are at 0’0“0” latitude!. We will also visit pre-Columbian archaeological sites that were used by our ancestors as astronomical observatories because they offer an incredible view of the Cayambe volcano. The bike route is approximately 15 miles (we can adjust the distance according to your level of experience).
We leave the bikes to enjoy a traditional lunch full of local flavors and textures to recharge enough energy to explore the famous handicraft market in Otavalo and other places that will surprise you.
